Frederic Bourdin is a chameleon. A chameleon is able to constantly change identities and blend and camouflage in with their surroundings. Fredric was able to manipulate his surroundings and his personal appearance. Although he is married and has a kid today, I still believe he is a bad person, he also should have been sentenced to jail for a longer time. To be able to pose as a fake son for five months and be an imposter at the age of 30 is not only freaky but an awful thing to do. I still wonder how Rafael feels. He was friends with 30 year old posing to be 15 must feel really weird?
“The one thing you better not forget is your name”
The name is the basis for any one persons identity. A name can separate you from other people. It also is yours as a possession and makes you a unique and different person from the rest of the world. Your name can dictate your personality sometimes and can also stereotype you. For example Alex is a pretty normal name for a boy but if my name is Alexa it would be a little awkward for me and make me want to be tough. Once a person loses his name he loses his identity and must start a new identity with a new name. The name creates others to be able to place a person and place where they are in a society. The name is part of you and who you are taking away your name that has been with you your whole life and what you respond to is almost like losing a whole part of your body.
In Frederic’s case, he uses the name Frederic Cassis. Cassis makes him remember his Dad’s name. By knowing his true name and lying to make a half fake name he doesn’t lose his identity and has the ability to manipulate a lot. Bourdin said the key was not lying about everything and by using part of his name it helped him be able to create an easier biography for the person.
